Trusting In The Lord
By Tomi Beverly / Season of life: 61, RN BSN, Wife, Mom
Scripture
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight.
~ Proverbs 3:5-6
In 1995 my life went through a very painful and stressful time. I went through a painful divorce, moved to Knoxville, Tennessee with a two and a half year old son, had four hundred dollars in my bank account, and went to work in
the ICU at St. Mary’s Hospital.
My days were sad, but I trusted that God would provide and take care of my son, Brandon, and me. I had to leave the future in his hands, knowing he would bless us. God did bless us in so many ways. We were blessed with the love of family, the love of a supportive church, and I had a good job. Later, he would bless us with the love and support of Scott.
As the years have gone by, I have lost beloved family members and friends. I have seen the closing of two hospitals. I have watched my husband’s health decline and had my own health issues. I have seen my son deploy to Afghanistan and return. I have seen family members affected by alcoholism and divorce. I have worked through Covid and the stress it has caused. I have witnessed sadness and stress in this community. Through all of this, my faith has sustained me. I know God is alive and working every day. I have to trust him, even in those dark days when I don’t understand. I know my future rests in his hands.
Closing Prayer
Dear Lord, thank you for the many blessings you give us every day. Thank you for walking with us through dark times in our lives. Thank you for guiding us when we can’t find our way. Thank you for loving and blessing us. May we always know that you are with us, when we rise in the morning and go to bed at night.
In Christ’s Name I pray. Amen
