Long Expected Devotional – Christmas Day
Christmas Day
“The Lord reigns, let the earth rejoice!” – Psalm 97:1
It is Christmas! Rejoice, rejoice! Again, I say rejoice! Emmanuel has come!
The One God promised to send into this world to rescue us from our sins did in fact come and dwell among us, lived the perfect and sinless life that we are unable to live, and humbly and lovingly bore the Father’s wrath and died the death we each deserve. It is He whom God raised from the dead and ascended to the Heavens where He sits at the Father’s right hand. It is He who reigns over all creation. It is He who will one day return to judge the living and the dead.
It is because of His righteousness we can rejoice! Despite the hardships and sorrows of life, we can consider all things joy and rejoice! Therefore, celebrate today! Don’t worship the presents, the people, and the “good feelings” the Christmas season brings. Instead, praise and thank the Lord for His amazing grace and awesome gift of salvation. Praise and thank Him for your people (family and friends). Thank Him for the gifts and presents. Thank Him for the Christmas lights and music. Above all, thank Him for Jesus, the One who reigns forever. Let the earth rejoice!
